I realized it after several shots, and decided to leave it be instead of resetting the counter. I assumed the T3i would start from IMG_0001, but rather it just picked up at IMG_1582. However, If I was to search for a particular image by name, no telling how many "IMG_2241" files I might have, especially since I sometimes save good images in more than one spot.Īnother thing that I find annoying, is that sometimes when I change cards, it loses the numbering sequence, and picks up where the images on the new card left off. I managed to put an estimated 250K shots on the T1i alone, nothing close to that on the XTi, and only a few thousand so far on the T3i. Of course, this is all manual on my part. In other words, it recycles only every ten thousand shots, not every thousand like the camera itself. So if the first shot was IMG_0001, and the last shot was IMG_1234, the folder would include the sequence ".00001-01234.". I actually save all my shots in folders named to include number of the first and last shot in the folder. I have to think there must be a shutter count on the device. unless you reset the file numbering system. Just look at the file name for the last shot taken, the number will be the total number of shots taken. Can you easily found how many pictures have been taken on a Canon Eos 600d?
